Today, I’m reading The Shadow of Your Smile, by Mary Higgins Clark, a wonderfully delightful mystery.

It was only when Alice tried to insist they have an after-dinner drink by the fire that Ryan had caught on to the fact that his aunt was trying to set him up with “one of her favorite people in the whole world,” and that Alice was more than willing to go along with it.  p. 133

It’s about an elderly woman who has carried a secret with her—a long-held family secret—and with her health declining, she must decide if she will tell or carry it with her to her grave.

I know that my interest was piqued, and since MHC writes mysteries, it’s bound to be something that will ripple through the lives of many of the characters.
