Welcome to The Friday 56, hosted by Storytime with Tonya.

Here’s how it works:

* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.
*Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
* Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Here’s what I found today, in a book that’s sitting on a stack on top of a shelf nearby:

It’s an excerpt from Molly Ringwald’s book Getting the Pretty Back.

There are also services, of course, that offer this sort of thing, but I’m all for recruiting your friends.  You can make it a friend date, but be sure that you offer something in return for all her help.

p. 56

This is a book from the forty-something woman who was once the teen queen of the John Hughes movies, and in this tome, she writes tidbits to encourage every woman to become “the sexiest, funniest, smartest, best-dressed, and most confident woman that you can be.”

What book did you find nearby today?  I hope you’ll stop by and share some snippets.

    • Thanks for stopping by, Freda…I enjoyed all those teen movies, along with my sons, who are her age.

      Now she plays the mother to teens in “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Please leave your thoughts. Comments, not awards, feed my soul. Thanks!
