Over at There’s A Book, our host for this meme challenges us weekly with questions—queries that probe into bits and pieces of us, parts of us previously unexplored, perhaps.
IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, FOR 24 HOURS, WHERE WOULD IT BE? (LOGISTICALLY, THIS CAN BE MORE THAN ONE PLACE, SO BE CREATIVE!).
I love to explore new places, but I don’t like the process of getting there. Planes…not so much!
Now I’ve hopped on the occasional plane, but so far I haven’t gone to some of the faraway places that require long flights.
But today I’m on my magic carpet, so let’s whirl away.
Danielle has chosen Ireland as one of her spots of interest, and oh, I do want to go there. But I have a son (Craig Robinson, Berlin photographer) living in Berlin, so I’m going to spend some time there—in fact, there are several parts of Germany I want to explore over these 24 hours.
Like his time in Munich for Oktoberfest, when he shot some of these photos.
Or, to explore his documentary side, how about these portraits of the Berlin Wall under reconstruction.
Or an exploration of the eerie beauty of ruins just outside Berlin, at the Beelitz Sanitorium.
Then, after we’ve done all of that, maybe we can hop on a train and travel to other parts of Europe…but that might take more than 24 hours.
I guess what I’m saying here is that I’d like to walk in my eldest son’s footsteps for a few hours, to see what he sees and to be where he’s been. He’s been living in Europe since the mid-nineties, from England, to Ireland, to Prague—and now Berlin.
Now I’m hoping to explore your whirlwind tours of fantasy places, so please stop by and leave your links!
