Good morning, and welcome to another Thursday that can spark your enthusiasm with bookish events.  Theme Thursdays is hosted by Reading Between Pages.

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event that will be open from one thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:

  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”

This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

This week’s theme is

SMILE (Laugh, Grin, Giggle, Guffaw, etc)

My excerpt today is from Goodie One Shoes, by Roz Siegel.

Blurb:  A Jimmy Choo Sandal. A Manolo Blahnik mule; a Sergio Rossi slide, a Prada sliver-heeled boot. As magic as Cinderella’s glass slipper. Even when they don’t fit, they can determine your life—or end it. Emily knows these things because she owns a discount shoe store on the colorful Upper West Side of Manhattan—Emily’s Place a neighborhood hangout for shoe lovers, where customers could find a sympathetic ear, a hot cup of coffee and the perfect shoe. Unfortunately, someone has decided that a sexy stiletto-heeled shoe is an excellent murder weapon.

But surprise!  There’s another missed call, this one from Kim.  The thought of Kim makes me smile.  Beautiful, serene, Kim, whose porcelain skin and satin-shiny hair seems to cast a cloak of contentment over everyone who enters Emily’s Place.  p. 7

So that’s my “smile” today.  I was looking for a paragraph with more than one happy thing, but this is a murder mystery.  LOL

What did you find today?  Please stop by and share….
