Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Saturday Snapshot, hosted by Alyce, At Home With Books.
In this event, we have the opportunity to spark some creativity by finding photos we’ve snapped, or which we’ve borrowed from friends/family.
This past week, I’ve been spending a lot of time with grandkids, starting with last Saturday when I took my granddaughter Fiona shopping for school clothes.
Here she models one of her new outfits.
While I was scrounging around amongst her photos from the summer, I found this one of her and her friend doing a “photo shoot.”
I think they’re going for the “jungle ambience” here.
And to top off the week, here’s a photo of Fiona after a visit to my daughter, the hair stylist. In this one, Fiona was going for a totally new look for the school year.
So…what did the rest of you decide to share this week?
Oh man, I remember shopping for school clothes – you are brave! She does look much happier than I remember being after school clothes shopping.

Oh, it was a very pleasant experience. My granddaughter is a much better shopper than my daughter was (and is!). She knows what she likes and goes for it right away. No dawdling. Very decisive.
She is the perfect shopping companion. Thanks for stopping by, Jennifer.

Cool outfit and a new “do” to boot!

Yes, I took several photos of her modeling outfits, but decided this one was the best contrast with her new look. Thanks for stopping by, Wanda.

Teenagers are so much more beautiful these days than in my day. Your granddaughter is one of those. Startling change for the new school year. Is she in high school?
LikeLike
Yes, she will be in 9th grade this year. What a change! I think she’s beautiful, too…I remember how gawky I felt starting 9th grade (and was! LOL). She was so confident about making this drastic change. I would have been agonizing over it, and then…wouldn’t have gone through with it.
Thanks for stopping by, Paulita.

Such a wistful look in that last photo. I bet she’s looking forward to going back to school and catching up with everybody.

Yes, I thought so, too, Kaye. She said she and her mom had just been out working on a project and were taking a much-needed break. Tired, thoughtful, relaxed.
And she’ll be going to a new, experimental school connected to the community college, so she’ll be with a group of kids she knew two or three grades ago. It sounds like a great opportunity, as she’ll be able to take a few college classes while in high school.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great photos!
I haven’t got a daughter – but have two granddaughters, younger than yours – but they both love clothes. They’re back to school soon – but they have to wear school uniform – not cool!

Oh, how sad! About the uniforms, I mean. In some ways, I think they’re a good idea, but they do take the fun out of choosing the outfit for the day.
Thanks for stopping by, Margaret.

Thanks, Vicki…I think so, too. The new color was a bit startling to me, at first, because she’s so pale….but she used a little makeup to bring her color up. Thanks for stopping by.

Fiona looks good with dark hair! That’s so great that you get to spend time with your children and grandchildren!

Oh, I’m happy about that, too, Helen…although I have one daughter and one son (and their kids) living in the same city; another son and his three kids live three hours away. Not too bad, though, considering that my oldest son lives in Berlin!
Thanks for stopping by…and I’m thinking the dark hair looks good, too.

How fun! I like the new hair color. There’s nothing so fun as reinventing yourself from time to time. 🙂

And she was so confident about it, too, Alyce. When I think about reinventing myself, I ponder it and go back and forth, etc. Thanks for stopping by.

These were lovely to see. Your grand-daughters are lovely girls. My grand-daughter is now 11 and loves to visit and spend time with us, but I was wondering how much longer she will want to. It’s so nice to see that some teens still love being with their grandmas and it gives me hope. 🙂

Cath, I’m hoping she continues to enjoy our time together. So far (fingers crossed!), she shows no signs of being difficult, belligerent, or any of the other characteristics teens are famous for! Thanks for stopping by.

Fiona is adorable! Is she staying with the dark hair now? I love her new outfit, the top is great! But my favorite photo is the jungle ambience…she and her friend are so funny, so cute!

I like the jungle scene, too. They’re showing their creativity here. I’m not sure if she’ll stick to the darker hair…I suspect she’ll want some blond streaks or highlights soon. Thanks for stopping by, Amy.

Thanks, Irene…I enjoy spending time with her. I have another granddaughter the exact same age as Fiona…they were both born the same month and year. But she lives three hours away, so we don’t get to spend “everyday” moments together. Thanks for stopping by.

Fiona looks great blonde or brunette….that’s unusual that both would look good – pretty girl.

New clothes for school.. that brings back memories! And she looks so cute in that outfit. I don’t remember clothes being that much fun in the “old days”.

Thanks, and you’re right: I don’t think they were, Leslie. The styles were boring….LOL

I still have to take my 16 yr old daughter shopping for school clothes. This will be her first uniform free year.

What fun! I know that uniforms can be a good idea, but I was always glad that we didn’t have to wear them. Thanks for stopping by, Carol, and enjoy the shopping.

True, incoming school year seems to signal for a new set of clothes and hair look too. Unfortunately, I wore uniforms from grade school to high school. We had what we call wash days every Fridays so we get to wear civies then. lolz. I used to sort of drove my mom to shaking her head why I like to color my hair during college days which she has grown used to it. Hahaha. Thank you for visiting.
