TUESDAY SPARKS — TEASER — ROCK BOTTOM — AUGUST 23

Welcome to Teaser Tuesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading:  an opportunity to spark some creativity through the books we’re reading.

Here’s how it works:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

Today I’m showcasing a book that is an action-packed thriller by Erin Brockovich, in which she has created a protagonist in her own image.   Rock Bottom features Angela Joy “AJ” Palladino, who left Scotia, W.Va., population 867, as an unwed 17-year-old mother following a terrible accident that almost killed her. Ten years later, after success and fame in a battle against Capital Power that earned her the sobriquet “the People’s Champion,” she returns to Scotia, to assist lawyer Zachariah Hardy in a fight against Masterson Mining’s new mountaintop removal project.

Teaser:  Was I crawling back, a failure, a fool for returning to the town that had tried so hard to assassinate my dreams?  Or was I really still just a kid myself, coming home at twenty-seven to be healed?  p.4

What have the rest of you decided to spotlight today?  Please come on over and share….

  1. I hadn’t heard much about Erin lately, not since the movie with Julia Roberts. I’m glad to see she is writing books. I hope you enjoy this one. Will wait to read your review.

  2. I feel jealousy. That Erin Brokovich gets to make a difference in the world and gets a big published. Oh, but I guess I’ll get over that. I’ll be interested to see if you like this one.

  3. Another amazing pick! I think this is going to be a fascinating read. She has had some awesome experiences – a lot to draw upon. I am really interested in hearing what you think of it. I think going home again always brings out so many mixed emotions. Wow. I want this book. I think it will be one of those that stay with you after you finish it.
