CREATIVE SPARKS: SATURDAY SNAPSHOTS — FAMILIES — OCT. 27

Welcome to another creative opportunity to showcase photos, via our weekly Saturday Snapshot event, hosted by Alyce, At Home With Books.

This week, I found some new photos of my grandkids….and I also discovered old snapshots from my childhood that I could scan (on my new scanner!).

Here are my childhood shots first:

Me & My Older Brother — A Long Time Ago!

In this next shot, it looks like my mother was trying to “pose me” for a picture she planned to take (she always wanted everything to be perfect!).  Instead, my aunt snapped the shot of my mom trying to get me ready.

Now here are some grandkid moments:

Fiona Posing….

Alec & Aubrey at Big Bear

In this next shot, we have a blended family photo that includes three of my grandchildren (Alec, Aubrey, & Aaron), their mom and stepfather, and their two half siblings (Silas and Sidney).

A Family Moment at Big Bear: L to R – Jody (the mom to all these kids); Alec; Aubrey holding Sidney; Aaron; and Mike holding Silas.

And next is a shot of Silas and Sidney:

Sidney & Silas

So these are my family moments for the week.  What are the rest of you sharing?  I can’t wait to find out!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Louise…the best thing about those black and white photos is how well preserved they are compared to later ones from the seventies that have turned orange….sigh.

I discovered this box of photos in a bin in the garage…thought I had all my photos in the house! So it was like a Christmas present.

I do enjoy watching the grandkids grow, still amazed that they are so grown up!

    1. I love that one, too, Margaret…I didn’t see it until I was grown, when my aunt sent it to me and explained how she captured the shot.

I like how it shows the dynamic between my mother and me. And no, I didn’t like to stand still or pose. I was all about action. Thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks, Colleen…I am pleased that the oldest of my photos aged so well; probably because they are black and whites. And even though I don’t remember that moment when my mom tried to “fix” me, it is so typical of her. Everything needed to be perfect. I wasn’t very cooperative!

      Glad you could stop by.

  1. What fun finding those old photos. And an action shot too. That didn’t happen too often, they were usually perfectly posed. I guess film and processing were expensive back then and moms never wanted to waste a picture!
