Welcome to another creative opportunity to showcase photos, via our weekly Saturday Snapshot event, hosted by Alyce, At Home With Books.
This week, I found some new photos of my grandkids….and I also discovered old snapshots from my childhood that I could scan (on my new scanner!).
Here are my childhood shots first:
In this next shot, it looks like my mother was trying to “pose me” for a picture she planned to take (she always wanted everything to be perfect!). Instead, my aunt snapped the shot of my mom trying to get me ready.
Now here are some grandkid moments:
In this next shot, we have a blended family photo that includes three of my grandchildren (Alec, Aubrey, & Aaron), their mom and stepfather, and their two half siblings (Silas and Sidney).
And next is a shot of Silas and Sidney:
So these are my family moments for the week. What are the rest of you sharing? I can’t wait to find out!
Interesting to see how family photos have changed! I must admit I love the older photos. Such a different time. You do have a lovely bunch of grandchildren too.

Thanks for visiting, Louise…the best thing about those black and white photos is how well preserved they are compared to later ones from the seventies that have turned orange….sigh.
I discovered this box of photos in a bin in the garage…thought I had all my photos in the house! So it was like a Christmas present.
I do enjoy watching the grandkids grow, still amazed that they are so grown up!

How fun! I love your mom’s hairdo.

It was a style that she kept long after it was “stylish,” lol. I was amazed when I saw the “rat” she used to form that look.
Thanks for visiting, Kaye.

I think you and your brother really look alike in that first photo — at least your expressions are the same. Here’s Mine

I love your photos – especially the one of you and your mum! You really didn’t want to have your photo taken did you? I have one of me looking very sulky and fed up with having to pose at much the same age!

I love that one, too, Margaret…I didn’t see it until I was grown, when my aunt sent it to me and explained how she captured the shot.
I like how it shows the dynamic between my mother and me. And no, I didn’t like to stand still or pose. I was all about action. Thanks for visiting.

I love the old black and whites too. But I always think your grandkids are so attractive with their dark hair and flashing eyes. And the grins.

Thanks, Colleen…I am pleased that the oldest of my photos aged so well; probably because they are black and whites. And even though I don’t remember that moment when my mom tried to “fix” me, it is so typical of her. Everything needed to be perfect. I wasn’t very cooperative!
Glad you could stop by.

I love the photos! The one of your mother posing you is priceless – look at her hair! I wonder how long it took her to fix her hair like that.

I used to watch her fix her hair. It was fascinating, but she had worn it that way so long that she could do it quickly. Thanks for visiting, Kathy.

I like that your aunt wanted to show things as they were rather than posed –a great picture! And your grandkids are beautiful!

What fun finding those old photos. And an action shot too. That didn’t happen too often, they were usually perfectly posed. I guess film and processing were expensive back then and moms never wanted to waste a picture!

That is probably why she had that attitude, Leslie; she was very frugal. And she wanted her kids to look good! lol Glad you could stop by.

Yes, I am very sure of it, Lisa…and I wasn’t even aware of this shot’s existence until adulthood. I don’t know if my mom ever knew about the “other” shot…lol

I remember that purse, too…it was made of felt, which seems odd, but that tells you something about how long ago it was (the 1940s).

I wonder, too, Staci; so far, all they do is sigh and say: “How could you pick THOSE clothes!” (I hear this mostly about the seventies…lol)
