Today I’m going to share photos of an afternoon at my neighborhood library. I enjoy visiting this library branch that is just around the corner.
The interior is full of light, and I like the interesting details near the ceiling.

Afterwards, I left with these two books, both of which will qualify for my Sequel Challenge.
I do enjoy visiting the library, and nowadays, since I’m trying to read from my stacks and to accept only a few review books, it helps to be able to borrow books that aren’t adding to my overwhelming bookshelves.

When we travel, I always pay a visit to the local library. I am always surprised at what I find there, even in small libraries.

I always leave the library with too many books! I love going, but I see so much that I want to read that it can be dangerous. Enjoy your week!

I have been to the library more times in the past couple of months than in the previous two years! But libraries are a nice solution when I’m curtailing adding more books to my shelves. I do have to watch it, though, so that I read the books before they expire.

With all that lighting it does have a nice open look. I remember our old library was such a dreary little building and now we have one with glass walls… much more inviting.

Even though I enjoy this light-filled space, I also have fond memories of darker, cozier spaces, like the one in a neighboring suburb where I went for several years. And even though it wasn’t beautiful, my first library (as a child) that shared space with the post office in our village, is one I’ll always remember. Thanks for visiting, Leslie.

Your library reminds me of our after its remodel. I don’t go all that often anymore, what with my Kindle and paperbackswap.com. I have all the books I need and then some! When my kids were little and I homeschooled them, we at the library at least once a week, often times more. One problem with our library is that it is part of a county library system–the largest county in Washington State, and they never have enough copies of new releases or popular books so you end up waiting forever to get those ones. I have ended up just buying them instead, often on my Kindle as it usually quite a bit less. Still and all, I miss my library day with my little flock of four littles!

Yes, if I don’t get a book for review or for my Kindle, I occasionally buy print books that I feel I must have for my personal bookshelves. I used to buy almost everything I wanted…but my shelves are overflowing as a result. Thanks for stopping by, Kim.

I am glad that this branch is close by and I can visit it while banking, etc. I had gotten out of the library habit, too, but have decided that, in addition to reading from my own shelves and the review books I receive, I need to supplement my reading from library shelves. It looks lovely and light. I love libraries – many of our’s here in the UK are under threat from local authority cut-backs, and I keep urging people to use their library as much as possible. I may have to see if it’s available on

I remember a time in the late 1970s when library hours were significantly cut due to budget constraints (Proposition 13 here); and then later, they gradually opened more and they are even open on Sundays again here. I am happy about that. Thanks for stopping by, Christine.

I find something special in every library that’s been part of my life, Louise, even my very first one as a child. That one was very small and plain and shared the space with the post office…lol
