Welcome to another Tuesday celebrating bookish events, from Tuesday/First Chapter/Intros, hosted by Bibliophile by the Sea; and Teaser Tuesdays hosted by Should Be Reading.

Today’s spotlight shines on a book I’ll be reading later this week, or next week.  Me Before You, by JoJo Moyes, is a library book.

Intro:  Prologue – 2007

When he emerges from the bathroom she is awake, propped up against the pillows and flicking through the travel brochures that were beside his bed.  She is wearing one of his T-shirts, and her long hair is tousled in a way that prompts reflexive thoughts of the previous night.  He stands there, enjoying the brief flashback, rubbing the water from his hair with a towel.

She looks up from a brochure and pouts.  She is probably slightly too old to pout, but they’ve been going out a short enough time for it still to be cute.

Teaser:  Mrs. Traynor gave me what my mother would have termed an “old-fashioned” look.  “You must know by now that if Will decides to make himself unreachable, there is little anybody can do about it.”  p. 119

Amazon Description:  They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has never been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.

Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.

A Love Story for this generation, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?

Does this grab you?  Would you keep reading?  I’ve been noticing this one everywhere…and I’m glad to finally have it.

  1. This one is on the top of my TBR stack. It’s a big book, so maybe as soon as the spring yard work is done, and I am back from my quilt retreat. I know by reading other reviews, it is a “several hankie” read. Looking forward to it though. Will watch for your review Laurel.

  2. I was a little confused after I read the prologue and then the description of Will being in a wheelchair. But I reread the prologue and it says 2007, so it must be pre-accident. Sounds like a good read. Adding it to my pile. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I’m not sure I know what an “old-fashioned” look is but I like the the sound of it. As long as I’m not the one receiving it! Thanks for stopping by Alli’s World at mrscaptkirk51.blogspot.com!
