SATURDAY SPARKS: A SUMMER OF TRAVEL

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

It’s time for some photo sharing.  When my son and DIL were visiting, they spent some time in the surrounding areas here, like Sequoia National Park, before heading to Northern California and Oregon…and then to SF and the coast, before returning here to the Central Valley.

Here Gabi and Craig are showing off the size of the tree in Sequoia Park; can we say “tree huggers”?

Here is a shot in Ashland, Oregon, in Lithia Park:

After their journey, they returned to Fresno, where they sold the car they had purchased and used for the summer.   Below, celebrating the sale at The Elephant Bar.

And here, Craig and Heather are enjoying some Mexican food at our neighborhood Mexican restaurant….Gabi chose to opt out of this dinner.

And then it was time to take the train from here to LA, where they visited my second son, attended a showing of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and flew back to Europe.

A great time was had by all…and the almost three months they spent here just flew by.  Sigh.

Hopefully they will not wait so long to return again.

What are you sharing today?  What stories do your photos tell?

  1. Family holidays always go so quickly. Looks like they had lots of fun adventures while they were visiting. Love the deer and Moro Rock pictures- it looks like a great place to visit.

    1. I love going to our Southern beach communities, and Morro Bay is one of my favorites…I’ve never climbed the rock! The deer in Lithia Park reminds me of how pretty and kind of wild that area can be.

Thanks for stopping by, Louise, and the time with family definitely went by too fast.

  2. It does look like everyone had a great time! Beautiful shots. I’ve never been to California or the Pacific Northwest, but a trip out there is still on my bucket list. Would dearly love to see those Sequoias.

    Happy Saturday!

    1. Thanks, Joy, and the sad news is that only weeks after their visit to the Sequoias, that whole area was engulfed in what they’re calling “rough fires.” I think it’s under control, now, but with the drought, we have a lot of fires in the summers.

They were fortunate to go there before the fires.

    1. Yes, it has been years since I went to Sequoia…so I sat out this trip that they took. So glad to see their photos, though; hope you do get to visit it someday soon. There is much in Oregon I would like to revisit. Thanks for stopping by, Melinda.

    1. Thanks, Patty, and while I couldn’t go with them to Sacramento, Oregon, and the coast, I love having their photos.

And now I see that they are in Berlin again, where my son is doing a photography event, after which they plan to settle in Prague.
