Wow, those old memory sparks are gathering today, as we launch another A Bit of Me (Me), hosted by There’s A Book.
This Weeks Question: What’s your earliest memory?
My earliest memory is vivid and consistently the same thing. I’m sitting in a crib pushing toy cars around, feeling trapped.
I had the measles—the old fashioned kind that has horrible after-effects sometimes—and the room is dark. To protect my eyesight. I don’t really remember how long I was there, in the crib, but I was three years old.
Here’s a photo of me from that time, a little while later and after I was released from “confinement.” I was throwing my favorite teddy bear in the bushes…why? I was expressing a generalized frustration from the weeks of confinement. Yes, a couple of weeks.
I also remember stomping on a pair of sunglasses that I had to wear outside afterwards. Again, bratty frustration.
So what are your memories? Hopefully happier ones, but I think we tend to remember the ones that are somewhat traumatic. Hope you’ll stop by.
