SUNDAY SPARKS: RESHUFFLING THE COLLECTIONS, ETC.

The hippie dolls on the top shelf (above) have been with me for many years.  In this photo, they were decorating a bedroom shelf in my previous residence.

When I moved into this studio apartment, I brought those dolls, as they were a part of my sentimental collection.  At first, they decorated the entry way table.  But then one day, someone bumped into the table and they fell!

After their fall, I moved them onto my dresser.

Sadly, they fell again when I had my phone on the dresser and grabbed it to turn off the alarm!  So today I moved them to a safer spot.  I hope.

On Sundays, the housekeeper comes to clean, and we enjoy chatting while she works.  She came up with the idea of where to place them.  I switched out the calculator that was on that filing cabinet, to open up space for the dolls.  See below.

I have one closet in this space.  When I first arrived, I created a little cubby with clothes and a cupboard.

Then I decided to move things around and turn the cubby into a proper closet.  I moved the little cupboard into my entry way. With these changes, I have more storage, all hidden behind the lovely curtain; and the Jelly Cupboard that once lived in the closet area is now in the entry way (see left).

The isolation of the lockdown has given me lots of time to play around with my interiors.  I enjoy it, and I’m glad for the opportunity to spend the time in a pleasant way.  I love to read, too, but sometimes I need action:  moving things around and changing things up.

I also enjoy fixing a tray of breakfast things, including the Cranberry Mimosa you see below:

FAMILY & INTERIORS: SATURDAY SNAPSHOTS

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

Today I’m grabbing photos from the past, as well as current ones.  In the photo below, we see my granddaughter Fiona, center, with two of her five brothers:  Jake, left, and Kevin, right.

I think Fiona was about four in this one, which means Jake was nine and Kevin, almost eleven.  Funny how kids love making silly faces during photos.

CREATIVE SPARKS: SATURDAY SNAPSHOTS — INTERIORS, PAST & PRESENT — NOV. 17

Welcome to another creative opportunity to showcase photos, via our weekly Saturday Snapshot event, hosted by Alyce, At Home With Books.

Last week, I shared my space in flux, and described my journey toward finding a beaded curtain.  As I recalled the beads I’d enjoyed before, I thought about scanning photos and bringing out some of those past interiors.

Like these from my A-frame cottage in the foothills.  In this photo, you can see one of my grandsons running through the beads.  This was a fun activity for all of them at one time or another.  I think that was why they loved visiting Nana!  lol

In this photo below, you can see another view that shows the beaded curtain leading into the hallway (on the right), and a glimpse of the dining room and kitchen on the left.  And my little jelly cupboard that has been spotlighted in recent versions of my collections.

Another view of the dining room and kitchen, separated by the little gingham drape.  I miss the green farmhouse table and chairs (you can see the chairs here); but in my smaller space, I had to choose between the Coca Cola table and chairs from the guesthouse…or this one.

I gave this one to my daughter.

And now….just to bring us back to the present again, I spiffed up my guest bathroom a bit this week, adding a couple of things.  A collage that shows a new shower curtain (left); a mirror image reflecting some girly things (doll and old shoe with flowers); and some of the Victorian prints, etc.

Now I’m off to enjoy your photos!  Hope you’ll stop by….
