SATURDAY SPARKS: PHOTO MEMORIES

olympus-epl5-camera-0-logo

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

Today’s feature will include some more photos from the Berliners’ visit…and a surprise at the end.

The General Grant Tree is huge…and kind of famous.  Luckily, in August, when the Berliners’ visited, all was well in the park.  Just a few weeks later, there were ongoing “rough fires” that took days to control.

Here Gabi and Craig enjoyed hugging up against the General Sherman Tree.

Here’s my little surprise:  Fiona (Pheona on Facebook, LOL) loves to create cartoons of her and her boyfriend Tomas.  They are so cute and have a very similar and somewhat quirky sense of humor.

That’s it for today!  The Berliners are back in Berlin…getting ready to find a new place in Prague.  What are you sharing today?

SATURDAY SPARKS: A SUMMER OF TRAVEL

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

It’s time for some photo sharing.  When my son and DIL were visiting, they spent some time in the surrounding areas here, like Sequoia National Park, before heading to Northern California and Oregon…and then to SF and the coast, before returning here to the Central Valley.

Here Gabi and Craig are showing off the size of the tree in Sequoia Park; can we say “tree huggers”?

After their journey, they returned to Fresno, where they sold the car they had purchased and used for the summer.   Below, celebrating the sale at The Elephant Bar.

And then it was time to take the train from here to LA, where they visited my second son, attended a showing of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and flew back to Europe.

A great time was had by all…and the almost three months they spent here just flew by.  Sigh.

Hopefully they will not wait so long to return again.

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

As summer winds down, we gather together to enjoy various activities.  My new DIL Gabi is exploring California with her husband, my eldest son.  After spending a month here, they drove up to Northern California, and here is a shot of Gabi at the Grass Valley Fair.  She loves the animals.  Next week, they’ll be heading down the coast.

While everyone else has been having fun, I’ve been rearranging furniture again!  I moved some cabinets around in my dining area; the only cabinets that are in their original position are the red corner hutch and the Baker’s rack.  I did the switcheroo in order to open up the space.  (Below)

And my coffee table was pretty cluttered, so I rearranged a few things….

olympus-epl5-camera-0-logo

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

Today’s feature will spotlight part of my extended family.  Recently, my niece Emily gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Margaret Louise.  She is the first grandchild for my sister and her husband, so a gathering was convened to honor the new family member.

Present at the event:  My sister and her husband; their four daughters, Elizabeth, Emily, Dorothy, and Katherine…and of course, little Margaret Louise.

First, say hello to the new mother and baby, Emily and Margaret:

Now let’s take a look at the four sisters, with the baby:  Left to Right:  Katherine (Katie); Elizabeth; Emily with Margaret; and Dorothy.

Is there anything sweeter than a new baby?  I predict that, since having a new baby around can start a trend, the sisters might just find themselves stricken by Baby Love.

It seemed to work that way between me and my siblings.  LOL

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.

It is the time of year for senior proms…and for spring-like events.  Here are a couple of those special times:  First we have a shot of my granddaughter Fiona and her date to the prom….

Now here is a photo of me, snapped on a special night, with a festive banquet,  ‘way back in the day.   I’ll give you a hint:  It was the mid-sixties, when hairstyles were still poofy….just before they turned “hippie-like” and straight, with the hair parted in the middle.

SATURDAY SPARKS: BIRTHDAY GIRLS!

olympus-epl5-camera-0-logo

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy.

Today I’m continuing the birthday celebrations for my granddaughters, Aubrey and Fiona, who turn 18 this month.  Aubrey’s birthday is February 13, and Fiona’s is on February 21.  Twin cousins.

Here are some moments from their lives, from infancy onward.  This first one is of Aubrey…a collage of sorts, showcasing her in the first year of her life.  The top one was taken in a studio, and the second one, by my son Craig, the photographer.

Here is one of Fiona right after she came home from the hospital.  She and her parents were living in my guesthouse back then.    The stuffed toy accompanied her everywhere during the early years.

Fast forward to the year they turned seven.  Here they are at the cabin in Big Bear, enjoying the snow.

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy.

Today I would like to spotlight friendships in their various forms.

Here is a shot of my daughter and two of her friends.  Sadly, the friend in the middle passed away this week, after a valiant fight against a long illness.

And that’s it for today.  I can’t seem to stop finding old photos, as well as the newer ones.  I found the older one of Fiona when I was clearing out bins, cupboards, trunks, etc., this past week.

I seem to be in a mood for purging.
