A BIT OF ME (ME): MY FAVORITES ON THE TUBE – JAN. 15

Good morning, and welcome to A Bit of Me (Me), hosted by There’s A Book. Every week, we gather around and share bits and pieces of our lives outside the blogosphere (and books).

Our host poses a new question for us every week:

This Weeks Question: What is your favorite TV show?

This doesn’t sound like such a hard question, except that I have four favorites that I would just hate to do without.  But I narrowed it down to TWO.
The top show is based on a movie that came out a few years ago, and is, incidentally, produced and directed by the same individual who brought us the movie.
PARENTHOOD! I love the cast, the plot lines that delve into family moments, and all of the characters—some more than others, of course.  My preferences would lean toward the quirkier characters.
PARENTHOOD CAST
I also love the setting—California’s Bay Area, specifically Berkeley.  The unconventional aspects of some of the individuals in the story are also appealing to me, reminding me of people I have known and loved.
Then, here’s another, quite different show I love, with another kind of family at its core.
THE GOOD WIFE
This show has a backdrop of politics and legal drama.  The characters fight for their ideas of right and wrong on a weekly basis.  I especially love the main character, Alicia, who has gone through a maelstrom of negative stuff in the media because of her husband (a political figure), who was caught (literally) with his pants down.
So that’s it….but, since I chose only two of my favorites, I will give an “honorable mention” to the ones I love on Sunday nights:  Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
So what about the rest of you?  I hope you’ll stop by and share.

    1. That’s good, though, Cheryl…then you’re not a slave to the tube!

I’m grateful for the DVR, because I can record things and watch them later…allowing me to have some kind of a life! LOL

      Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I’ve seen parts of Parenthood and have liked it – I really like Lauren Graham and Peter Krause. I keep hoping they’ll put the first season in full on my On Demand so I can catch up and then start watching the show!

My picks were Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dexter, but Castle is totally a runner up for me 🙂

    1. Yes, I loved the Parenthood movie, and now I’m really loving the show. I also like Bonnie Bedelia’s character…she dresses and acts a lot like some of my friends, with her “hippie-like” clothes and demeanor.

Lauren Graham is my favorite, though. I like the actor who portrays Peter Braverman (is that Peter Krause?). The one I don’t like too much is Christina (Monica Potter). She annoys me.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, Crystal…I am going on and on here, huh?

  2. Oh! We watch Parenthood as well! I love that it’s so “real”. I just can’t help laughing at so many of the situations they get themselves into, it’s fantastic. Though I’d definitely have to agree about Christina…not my favorite on there. But you can’t go wrong with Lauren Graham, excellent actress!

    1. Yes, Danielle, Christina seems a bit…snooty. As if she thinks she has all the answers. If they would make her a bit more vulnerable, or at least SHOW that; but they must have their reasons for creating her this way!

      Thanks for stopping by.
