Welcome to The Friday 56, hosted by Storytime with Tonya.
Here’s how it works:
Rules:
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.
*Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
* Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
Today I’m excerpting from one of my newer books that just happens to be on a stack nearby. By Nightfall, by Michael Cunningham, was on my wish list for awhile! I loved the two other books I read by this author.
Peter and Rebecca Harris are a couple with careers in the arts, and living in Manhattan’s SoHo, have everything they would need to be happy…then an unexpected visitor leads to Peter questioning everything about the world he has so carefully constructed.
p. 56: Peter and Mizzy sit looking at the tabletop. The silence takes on a certain decisiveness, like the interlude during which it becomes apparent that a date is not going well; that nothing promising is going to happen after all.
What tempting excerpts did you discover? I hope you’ll stop by and share.
Makes me wonder what promising thing they were hoping for. Good one!
thanks for visiting!

Yes, there’s always hope…I suspect that there’s a push/pull element that’s interfering with a smooth interlude.
Thanks for stopping by, Lady D.
