CREATIVE SPARKS: SATURDAY SNAPSHOT — A MORNING WALK — JULY 6

Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured.  The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy.

This past week has continued to be extremely hot and into the triple digits, landing at 110 for a couple of days.  I had vowed to make walking a part of my day, despite the heat, which meant hitting the pavement very early in the morning.

On yesterday morning’s walk, I took my camera and enjoyed some flowers, bushes, and trees along the way.

The brave flowers and bushes are bravely hanging in there, albeit with brown tipped edges on the greenery.

The trees offer their welcoming arms, casting their lovely shade upon me.

I like one neighbor’s effort to maintain their plantings in these pots on the patio.

And returning home after my walk, I have to smile at the hardy weeds in my own patio, pretending to be trees.

What do you see outside your front door these days?  I’m off to check out your featured photos.

Agapanthus are one of my favourite summer flowers – such a lovely cool blue on a hot day. Nice to be reminded that one day soon we will feel warm again down under 🙂

    1. Oh, I didn’t know that is what they were called….they are definitely ubiquitous! Thanks for stopping by, Brona. And yes, it is good to look forward to warm days, even though sometimes those days are TOO warm.

    1. I lived in Northern California before coming here, and we had way more trees there….I suffered a “tree deprivation” after moving here. But there are parts of this city that still have some. Thanks for visiting, Sheila.

Nice to see where you live. I have been trying to walk to work some days in an attempt to get fit. Lovely cool walk on the way to work, but then a hot trek home. Keep meaning to do a post on it.

  3. Enjoyed the pictures of your neighborhood. I need to start taking more pictures. Outside my front door is grass and few trees and across the street a large retirement center. Thank goodness they keep there yard mowed and trees are starting to be more than just saplings. Better than the big empty field of weeds that was there before. Thanks for sharing your walk with us.

My husband and I managed to sneak in quite a long walk Saturday between downpours. It was nice to be outside and see the sun, if only briefly. Enjoy your week!
