Welcome to our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured. The event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads.
Today I am sharing an assortment of photos featuring family and home.
First, my second son and his three kids (young adults now) love sports events. Here they are at a Laker’s game. Aubrey, on the left, and Alec, right, were home from their universities for the holidays.

Fiona spent a lot of time over the holidays with her boyfriend Tomas:

And when she was home, she did a lot of babysitting for her nephew Lane:

I enjoyed some lunches out…
***
I also curled up on my sofa to read, watch TV, and admire my purged bookshelves that showcase more trinkets than books these days.
***
In the kitchen, I added my new Crockpot to the island that also now contains my Coca Cola ice bucket…receptacle for tea bags, Sweet ‘n’ Lo, etc. The “rolling” island comes in handy as extra counter space.

My new red coffee pot, to match the toaster….

And here I am now in my mini-office nook:

What are you spotlighting today? Come on by and share, please!

Good for you for doing a book purge. My husband is always telling me I should do that–but I haven’t yet read most of the books!

Oh, I keep the unread ones separate and only purge the books I’ve read. But at one point, I had 1435 print books that I had read and “hoarded” over the years, so I got rid of a few hundred of them. LOL. Thanks for stopping by, Melinda, and good luck getting your books read.

There is something refreshing about clearing off shelves, I think!

Yes, there is, Deb….and then sometimes I look up and go to the shelves to find a specific book…and realize it went out with the purge. Letting go is freeing, but there is also a sense of loss. Thanks for stopping by.

I love sharing your pictures. It is fun to see other people’s spaces. It makes me feel like I know you better. I am so bad about taking pictures lately, I don’t have anything new to share this week.

I have missed some weeks, too, Judy…my family members have been so busy! Thanks for stopping by, and I’m glad you enjoy peeking into my world.

A rolling island looks truly useful!

Yes, it really comes in handy in a small kitchen. I can even eat at that island, as there is a stool on the other side. It also has cabinets underneath for extra storage. Thanks for stopping by, Joy.

Very impressed by such clear bookshelves! I could never understand how people had room for stuff other than books on their bookcases – I don’t even have room for bookends! We were pleased to get rid of the second layer of books on (most) of our bookcases 🙂
Love your little office nook, too!

Thanks, Sue, I do like to mix my bookish and non-bookish things on my shelves, which is why I have shelves all over the house.
I was happy to rearrange my office to allow for my “desk,” as well as offer up more space for the sofa bed for guests, filing cabinets, TV, etc. It all works out nicely now.
