Should Be Reading, with Miz B, is the host of this wonderful bookish meme.

Here’s how it works.

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Today, I’m reading The Shadow of Your Smile, by Mary Higgins Clark, a wonderfully delightful mystery.

It was only when Alice tried to insist they have an after-dinner drink by the fire that Ryan had caught on to the fact that his aunt was trying to set him up with “one of her favorite people in the whole world,” and that Alice was more than willing to go along with it.  p. 133

It’s about an elderly woman who has carried a secret with her—a long-held family secret—and with her health declining, she must decide if she will tell or carry it with her to her grave.

I know that my interest was piqued, and since MHC writes mysteries, it’s bound to be something that will ripple through the lives of many of the characters.

What are you “teasing” us with this week?  I hope you’ll stop by and share.

  1. I used to read this author awhile back. I but havent so much in years. I do enjoy the movies that are based on her works….I hope you are enjoying your book. Here’s mine.

  2. MHC’s a great author, but I always approach her books with caution; they terrify me somehow, and reading them makes me want to hide behind a pillow at times. I am wondering what deep dark secrets this one holds! Good teaser!

Thank you for dropping by mine!
